Today is President’s Day, a convenient convergence of Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays designed to give Americans a three-day weekend and prompt President’s Day sales at both department stores and furniture galleries. Or something like that. But it’s appropriate for the car industry, because tomorrow really is going to be President’s Day–both Chrystler and GM have until tomorrow to unveil their plans for a turnaround to the government. The automobile industry is probably not the place you want to be looking for jobs right now, but if they somehow manage to become competative again (and, thus, green), they’re probably going to need an influx of fresh employees. This is an industry to keep an eye on for the long term, not the short term, but one to keep an eye on nonetheless.
