I read an article on CNN today that brought up a really good point. The article says that 59% of companies planning to take on interns also plan to keep those interns on as full-time employees. It makes sense, because training is essentially one big toilet for money–you simply don’t start getting anything back on your investment until the trainee starts becoming productive. And internships typically pay nothing or close to it, so the company is able to train its new employee without flushing the money hole.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, what your education background is, whether you’re in school or not–it can’t hurt to apply for internships.
