Fortune is famous for posting their 500 best (their Fortune 500), or most profitable, companies annually. But they have also compiled a list of the 20 biggest losers from last year’s Fortune 500. This does not necessarily mean that these companies were the least profitable, simply that they lost the biggest percentage of their piece of the pie (which, in some cases, because these were fairly large companies, was a pretty darn big piece of the pie). Some highlights (or lowlights?) include: Coca-Cola, Macy’s, Ford, CBS, Time Warner, AIG (kind of obvious), and Fannie May and Freddie Mac (again, obvious).
There is much more information about these twenty companies on the site.
