It seems like there’s been a lot of news, but that’s to be expected–whether good or bad, something big is on the horizon for U.S. automakers. Today, GM announced that it would be dropping its Pontiac line of cars. Pontiac has always been billed as their “excitement” line. And…I guess it’s about to get exciting in a horrible way for anyone in Pontiac’s employ. GM also announced that it would be cutting 21,000 jobs by 2011.
On the flip side of things, Ford is actually increasing production, despite its falling sales. It’s like I said, the American auto industry will not be the same come this time next year, for better or worse.
