GM plans to unveil its first electric car next year: The Chevy Volt. And Chevrolet now has a number from the Environmental Protection Agency that will probably make the cars fly off their lots (not literally): 230. As in, Miles Per Gallon. The Chevy Volt has a 230 MPG rating.
Now, sure, since it’s an electric car, it’ll have to be charged off the grid, which, in the long run, doesn’t help the country’s energy problems much. But it’s an impressive number nontheless, and could have a wide-ranging impact on the general economy (in a good way, hopefully). Time will tell. In the mean time, mull over the car that gets 230 miles to the gallon. Wow.
