So, economic juggernaut Disney has purchased Marvel for approximately $4 billion. You’re probably most familiar with Marvel as the comic book mainstay, responsible for characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, and Captain America. But they also have arms that deal with merchandising, television, and most prominently recently, movies. What this means for the future of Marvel under the banner of Disney is unknown, but it’ll be something to keep an eye on.

Way back in the 1990’s (seems like so long ago), Marvel actually declared bankruptcy. It’s a great example of how a company can come out of something like that (as Chrysler and GM have recently done) and be stronger in the long run for it.
